After a brief stint in retirement, Jae-hee "Gesture" Hong has returned to the Overwatch League. Gesture will not be serving as a player however, as he has joined the New York Excelsior team as its newest assistant coach, a role he operates in alongside Young-woo "Undine" Son, and beneath head coach Dae-kuk "KuKi" Kim.

This return to the league comes after Gesture previously played for the London Spitfire in the first couple of seasons, and then on the Seoul Dynasty for a further two seasons, before announcing that he would be retiring from competitive Overwatch at the end of the 2021 season. Now, after seven months of retirement, Gesture is back in the league in a management position.

Speaking about the signing, the Excelsior stated, "We are excited to have you join the team and look forward to having your guidance and expertise on our roster."

The New York Excelsior will next play later today, when it faces the Florida Mayhem at 21:30 BST / 22:30 CEST.
